The Mindset of Christ

Adapted from Leading Transformation in Africa by Delanyo Adadevoh.

To know the mind of Christ is to know the will of God. The will of God is in constant pace with His nature and character of God and has been revealed to humankind through the person of Jesus Christ.

If anyone is new in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB)

Same Script, Different actors; we find ourselves seeing things from the worldly perspective. We have relied for too long on a mindset that is not only godless but has no positive lasting impact. But God sent His Son so that we may know His will for us the lost sheep.

Characteristics of the mind of Christ

The mind of Christ:

  1. Seeks to honour God – John 5:19-20
  2. Is a humble mind – Philippians 2:1-9
  3. Seeks the abundant life – John 10:10
  4. Is a productive time – Mathew 25:14-30
  5. Values the human above the material – Mathew 16:26
  6. Values the eternal above the temporal – Mathew 10:28
  7. Values godliness over external religious performances – Mark 7:20-22
  8. Is spiritual – 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
  9. Loves all without partiality – Luke 10:25-37; John 4:4-26; Mathew 19:14
  10. Is sacrificial – Mathew 20:28
  11. Seeks the salvation of the lost – Luke 19:10
